Sunday Funday at the Highline

June has been such a busy month for me! My weekends have been jam packed with events and it has left me little to no time to put together fun looks for you all. This process is actually a huge help in my day to day routine, the looks that I post are things I would actually wear. So needless to say my morning routines have been a bit difficult in trying to figure out what I am wearing.. I spend more time standing at my closet then I normally should and that leaves me with minimal time for my morning makeup routine.
Since I was on the go I figured I would snap a picture of my outfit that I wore this weekend. I took my mom and my aunt out for their birthday to a nice brunch at Serafina’s and then we walked over to the Highline for a nice scenic view of NYC. Although I am here daily now, I don’t make the time to slow down and see the beauty that I am surrounded by. The day prior I was a fool and forgot to sunblock myself, it was a family filled weekend as my little cousins were over and I was more worried about them then I was myself. An overly long sentence to say that I got sunburn on my back. This completely changed the outfit I was going to wear. Since it was so hot I did want to wear a dress or shorts.

A few weeks ago I picked up this top from H&M. I loved the idea of pairing this with white pants and wearing it to work with a denim jacket. Since I am always cold in the office the jacket is the perfect style solution to this look. I will definitely show you all how that look will turn out but lets jump back into this look shall we? I wore my lighter washed denim shorts and a pair of my go to sandals from last year. Luckily my feet weren’t too beat up from walking for hours it seemed.

What I focused this entire look around was my necklace. Before jumping on the line to check out at H&M I always look at the accessories. And there it was. A SHARK TOOTH necklace. Impulsive purchase that was a million times worth it.

Can’t wait to get back into shooting some looks for you all and sharing my summer style!!

Summer Sweaters & Shorts

With this wacky spring/summer weather Mother Nature is like the Katy Perry song “Hot and Cold.” For those in between days I found this is the perfect outfit. This sweater I got on sale from Express and its pretty light weight.. still has the cozy factor which is a must in my world. If it ain’t cozy, then I don’t want it. The shorts are new and from American Eagle… what caught my attention was the different washes of denim mixed with these shorts. I hate wearing lighter washed denim because it makes me look a lot wider than I really am, the camera adds 10 pounds which doesn’t help either. The side panels of the shorts had the darker denim to make me feel comfortable but the lighter denim in the middle, everything else was ripped which makes me happy – I love destroyed denim!!

The shoes! I know every celebrity has been wearing these and weather or not they are a quick trend I don’t really care. I fully plan on purchasing at least one more pair of these slide sandals. Maybe not with a giant silk bow on it but they are comfortable. Walking as much as I do on a daily basis I need comfortable shoes. I live in sneakers so with the warmer weather coming I was looking for an alternative – and here they are!

Weekend Look: The Grinch

The above series of photos I have dubbed “the girl in the chair.” A series you might be seeing often. Any way, this has become one of my go to weekend looks for when I mange to not be anti-social like the grinch. This sweater from Express is in such a beautiful color and I really love wearing it… but I have to wear it with high waisted jeans since it is cropped.

Since it’s the day after Christmas I’m feeling rather exhausted after the mad rush to get everything done last minute. So insert the heavy sigh of relief for a brief moment until we wrap up the last week of the year. I hope everyone had a happy holidays, I can’t wait to share some of the fun gifts I got!

Lace & Leather

img_3310img_3312img_3329

Yesterday was winter whites and today I have gone back to my Wednesday Addams look. Gotta stay true to your style. This lace bell sleeve top I have worn previously (Feelin’ Witchy) Any excuse to wear this again and I’ll take it. I did splurge on this top after all. Today I went with a different approach to this look. Instead of wearing a cami underneath I decided to take a walk on the wild side and go without. Pairing it with black jeans and sky high ankle booties it gave it more of an edgier look.

This faux leather jacket is obviously one of my favorites. Since my sleeves are so large, I wore the jacket just over my shoulders so I can still show off these gorgeous sleeves. I was also looking for an excuse to wear this gorgeous deep purple lipstick again, this look was definitely it.

Where I would wear this look? Probably on a night out on the town with my girlfriends, and preferably a place with seating… I mean look at the size of my heels. Despite the height of these heels they are actually very easy and comfortable to walk in. I got these ages ago when I used to avoid getting my work pants hemmed.. they also reminded me of what Lady Gaga would wear too. Just dancing in these can be a challenge after an hour or so… and I would know because I have done it. Unfortunately the height on these heels could not save my pants in this case. I rolled these up to break up the monochromatic black look.

Makeup info…

This can become a holiday look if you’d like. Hear me out, I know this outfit looks so goth but hey I like taking chances and looking different. Swap out the dark purple lip for a bold red lip, add a cami underneath this top because I don’t think your family wants to see your bra. You can keep the heels if you’d like or a smaller heeled option if you’d prefer:

Grunge Sweater

What I love about fall is wearing cozy sweaters. I found this sweater recently in Express and could not get over how comfortable it is. Despite it being distressed, you know by now that I tend to love to buy destroyed items, I just had to have it. What it truly reminded me of is one of my favorite singers from my teenage angst years. Kurt Cobain.

Now that I’ve slightly relived my teenage years lets get to where you can wear this sweater…

I’ve worn this sweater to work (casual work attire is appropriate in my office) and I was truly comfortable and warm all day. I tend to freeze in my office but with this sweater there was no need.

I paired it with new Express jeans I purchased, these are in the short version of the jean styles. Yes, I am a shrimp so we need to do what is necessary to purchase bottoms that fit appropriately. For a different look I decided to roll up the bottom of my jeans, this only required 2 rolls instead of the regular 5. #shortgirlproblems

For my footwear I decided to go with my trusty slip on sneakers. I’ve raved about these before and I wasn’t lying to you when I said I get a lot of use out of them. These are easy to slip on when your running fashionably late and need to get out of the door.

Here are my outfit details…

Now go out there & rock that “grunge look”
