Something Navy November Collection First Impression

Arielle of Something Navy has been a blogger I have been following since before I knew what blogging was. Following her journey for years, I have seen her style evolve and a dream of creating a collection come true. Her past collections have been beautiful but I was, unfortunately, unable to purchase anything I desired since it sold out SO DAMN FAST! This time around I was determined to sit by my ancient MacBook Pro and get at least 1-2 items. Mission accomplished.

Leading up to the collection going live, the team at Something Navy has been great sharing the pieces and on different body types. I really appreciated this touch in their stories because as a girl who is petite, curvy, pear, I was concerned about the fit. I struggle with fit for a majority of Nordstrom products as is, and I didn’t want to have to make any returns – the chance of being able to exchange for the needed size was slim. Her coats were beyond dreamy but I decided to be focused on a particular outfit that I could wear, which was for Thanksgiving.

The off the shoulder sweater caught my eye for a few different reasons. I loved the simplicity of the design, it was flattering for most body types. The waist detail was exactly what I was looking for and the length was perfect for jeans and leggings. The colors! Of course, I purchased it in both colors and I am very happy that I did, the black quickly sold out of a size small so I was able to purchase a small in the red win and a medium in the black. There was limited time to review how the sizing was going to be since these were clearly selling out like hot cakes. I knew that ultimately one of the sizes was going to fit better than the other and would return one – this sweater was rather steep for my price range at $89.

Just for the hell of it, I added an easy tee in navy  (size small) – it was for SOMETHING NAVY after all. And dear God I am glad I did! IT IS SO COMFORTABLE!! I can wear this with sweats, sweaters, every season – it’s GREAT AND AFFORDABLE! At $25 this was the most budget-friendly item that I saw in her collection.

The red wine off the shoulder top was the clear winner for 2 reasons: 1. the fit was much better in a size small 2. the color is just so pretty. Its clear that her collection runs rather big, the medium in black was comfortable but too oversized for me. I wear a lot of black clothing because it is part of my style and my style aesthetic. This was a nice step outside of my comfort zone, and I could pair it with black pants (or leggings). Here I am wearing it with faux leather leggings that I had from Express and Steve Madden over the knee boots. Not only was this sweater super comfortable but it was so easy to wear. I am really looking forward to restyling this top in a variety of ways!

Congrats to Arielle and her Something Navy team on this collection! I cannot wait for the December collection and hope that Nordstrom decides to make this a seasonal option in the future!!
