Clowning around with Zara

I mentioned in my about me that my posts will contain some comedy. The title of this blog post is exactly that. When I initially saw this top on the rack I LOVED IT. Immediately found my size and said MINE…. then when I put it on I realized it reminded me of a clown’s top with the ruffles. Didn’t seem to bother me much when it came to wearing it though!

This top incorporates the continuing off the shoulder trend with the statement sleeves being bell sleeves. God that was a lot of rambling about sleeves. Point is that this top is fabulous. I absolutely love it… it goes perfect with my clowning around attitude.

The jeans are also Zara… it was a gamble buying jeans from here. I tried on a few of their jeans and the cuts seem to be all sorts of different depending on the style. Disappointing to see that the flared ankle jeans DO NOT flatter me at all, a trend I won’t be enjoying. These jeans are mid rise and stretchy, which for a first pair would be my best gamble. Unsure if these jeans stretch after wearing them more or if they shrink after washing them. I do hope they stretch out the more I wear them… I also was wearing them on days that were 70 degrees almost 80, which was not helping my full review. Other than that I like how they fit me and they do feel comfortable since they are so stretchy. Stay tuned for my continued review on these jeans..

Lastly, the shoes. I don’t have many shots of these shoes but I am SO INCREDIBLY happy that these are in style. It is so much easier to wear over gladiators or any other thong sandal. Curious to see how these will handle my NYC street walking but I am anticipating it to be a comfortable stride. I fully plan on purchasing more of these styles, maybe even a bit of a sportier sandal which might be even better during the summer months to come.

OOTD: nerdy chic(k)

Continuing with these quick OOTD posts. Today’s post comes from my outfit last week post New York Rangers Game 4 win. I was tired and yet bursting with excitement that I got to see a home win during the playoff series. Although it was a very long day for me so the following day I decided to wear my glasses. Yes, I am blind as a bat and own nerdy looking glasses. Why? Because these are a hell of a lot easier to see out of compared to my old smaller framed glasses.

Anyway, this outfit was actually put together by my cousin. I often shop in her closet & I love it. I’ve never had a sister so I would imagine this is how it would be, but when your sister is married with kids & still has an amazing selection in her closet. When she saw my post of my Zara shirt that was half sweatshirt and half button down she gave me this look as another option. I will do my best to link similar options to what she gave me. The button down shirt wasn’t long sleeved but 3/4 sleeves which actually made the layered top so much more comfortable. The detail on the shoulders also made my outfit look more dressier than it really was.

Going through her closet she was asking me about the latest trends. Being a mommy and all it’s hard to find quiet time to read up on what’s happening. Everything I had told her from embroidered jeans to cutlowets to statement sleeves – she had! Neither of us could believe that it was all coming back in style. She was smart and kept a few key pieces in her closet, some designer and others she picked up from Marshalls or TJ Maxx. Besides learning where to splurge my money on certain items, she definitely taught me another valuable lesson: never throw everything away, you never know when it will come back in style.

OOTD: Camo print

This is a new series I am going to try out so I can share my daily looks on the go. As much as I would love to be at the level of having my photos taken for me throughout New York City, I am not quite there yet. Yet being the key word. What I want to continue to do is be relatable to my readers & followers. These quick outfit selfies and shameless bathroom selfies is the way to do so. I am on the go and so are you… now let’s jump right into this.

For the Easter holidays I was leaving work at an earlier time on a Friday, and who else wouldn’t be excited about this? What that meant for me is that the bus would be a little less crowded and I’d be getting home earlier than 7PM. To make the day even better I got my first paycheck so you know shopping was my number one priority. There is a Zara not too far from my office, 2 actually but the one on Fifth is much better.   Attempting to not go overboard since I did have to carry my purchases back to my office, then to the bus and finally home.

Taking advantage of how quiet the store was when I got there I immediately grabbed a bunch of jeans to figure out my size. These hips don’t lie when it comes to the difficulty of finding the right size and style of jeans. Some of the newer trendier styles do not compliment my body type, as much as I’ll say “oh my gawd those are SO CUTE!” They do not look cute on me. Sticking to cuts and styles that flatter my figure is a million times more important than trying to fit into the new trends. Especially when my assets are saying “oh hell to the no!” I’ll do a review on these jeans once I put a few fun outfits together and then decide which one I’m wearing first 🙊

Jumping into what I am actually wearing in this post here. I saw this camo print shirt and it was one of those “I just had to have it” moments. Camo is rather popular now a days or at least from what I’ve been seeing on the streets. I liked that it was a high low button up shirt rather than a regular t shirt or hoodie… what inspired me most was that I could wear a statement necklace with this type of collared shirt.

Post purchase(s) I thought about what styled statement necklace I was looking for. Anything I had from my current collection & I was insisting on treating myself. A black or gold statement necklace is what I had in mind, ironically I got both but I loved how the mate black necklace looked best with it. The necklace looked like it was part of the shirt & I liked how it made many people do a double take of what it was. I paired it with my new high waisted jeans from the Gap and my trusty high top converse sneakers.

I love GOLD… Details

Focusing on accessories for today’s post. Normally I am not the type of girl who wears a ton of accessories. The simpler, the better in my opinion. Although this past fall/winter season I have really loved layering my accessories. When I got this Bauble Bar collection by Shay Mitchell it really opened up my eyes to a new way of dressing up my outfits. The smallest detail can make or break your outfit. Often I avoid wearing a ton of accessories because well I tend to break things or get caught on things since I am clumsy. Not a good look. So the less that I have to get tangled in it is usually for the better…

Today I saw an accessory post on Pinterest and fell in love with the detail. I love pulling from what I already have (no matter how old it may be) and putting the look together. The wrap around necklace was the most fun part as I wanted to use one of my favorite sparkling chokers to make a different layered look. This wrap around choker necklace has been worn a billion times by every basic girl on planet earth. But not me, nope. I insisted on creating a different look.. and I am so glad that I did. By layering the Catena choker necklace between the wrap around necklace it allowed it to pop even more and look like a completely different necklace. And that was from thinking outside of the box.

Still obsessing over the celestial jewelry, these layered necklaces made it so much easier to put this look together. The base of this look was not the wrap around choker, it was my arrow necklace. This was a gift from my parents and arrows have been extremely symbolic to me over the years…

This has been blasted all over every bit of social media possible, I KNOW. At the time in my life when I saw it I was wondering when all of these bad things happening were ever going to end. It seemed like time after time after time, something horrible or life changing was happening and I didn’t understand why. Reading this, it made so much more sense and gave me a sense of hope. That I wasn’t being pulled in the wrong direction, but pulled back further enough to launch into the right direction. And here I am. Doing something I absolutely love, my life is changing for the absolute better, anything negative or pulling me down has been eliminated and I am focusing on only the good while forcing positivity in every which way. Now that was extremely off topic, but a part of me I wanted to share with you all.

Baaaaccckkk to the post. I based this look all around my arrow necklace, although the arrow and the moon don’t necessarily go together it didn’t matter to me much since all of the items I was using was gold. The amount of gold accessories I own is ridiculous, even writing this I am reminded that I need to invest in some other silver pieces for my collection for more of a variety. Another of my favorite necklaces is the star burst lariat necklace from Dynamite. Such a great find from that store and I really love incorporating it into all of my outfits. It also gave a great focal point to the rest of my accessories as it laid between the end pieces of the wrap choker necklace. Wearing it with a simple white tank and my trusty faux leather biker jacket it brought life to a simple outfit!

Red Ruffles

Ruffles are trending. I caved & bought into a trend. When I first saw this shirt I fell in love with the color, I mean just look at how beautiful that red is! This spring it is all about the statement sleeves. And as much as I love them sometimes it just is not practical to wear every day. Maybe for a night out but I wanted to find something in between to balance out this trend. This top does exactly that… Not only does it bring me away from my typical black or white go to top, but its a minimal enough ruffle where I don’t feel overpowered by the top. Instead I’m feeling empowered and ready to take on the day! It is definitely something I would wear to work, you can dress it up or dress it down. For me this would be dressing up  my look a bit for work, my office setting is a casual work attire which makes life so much easier… but also a challenge since they all know that I am a fashion blogger. Plenty of rainy days were a blogger off duty look haha!

Happy Pineapples

Pineapples. I have a special place in my heart for them, not as a fruit but the idea:

7cce8b259e4b5a48d74bdf936b867fa1

From phone cases to funny items for the home, I just think its a sweet fruit. Ironically I don’t enjoy eating pineapples that much haha! What I do enjoy is an awesome graphic tee shirt. When I saw this shirt in H&M I knew that I immediately had to have it. There are so many different ways to wear it, with jeans or with a skirt or even with sweat pants at home. Graphic tees are fun to wear because depending on what’s on your shirt people will laugh or there is a small chance they might be offended. I try not to offend people with the shirts that I am wearing, it was my job when I was a teenager. Teenage angst Sarah definitely raised some eye brows with the shirts she used to wear. This shirt is a happy shirt and happiness is what I’d like to stick to being about 🙂

Bows got Back

How adorable are these shirts? I found these on ASOS is so many different styles and I had to hold back buying all of them. For the spring I am trying to defer from buying any more black or white items since I already have 100’s of them. The tiger print caught my eye simply because its different. I like different. What’s even more fun about this is the pinstripe detail for the bows. Normally I prefer to have a longer styled shirt since my hips are so much wider and I would prefer to hide them rather than make it the main focus of my outfit. Showing off my “assets” is exactly what this top does. Bringing the attention to the part of my body I don’t mind showing off 😉

Wearing my hair up was rather different for me since I normally look like a child with my hair up. As I’ve aged I’ve appreciated having a young looking face, it completely sucked trying to get into bars when your underaged and even when you were freshly 21 but I am diverting from what my point is here. My point is with this top I’d have to wear my hair up in order to show off the beautiful back detail. This will definitely be an experiment wearing my hair up to show off this outfit but going outside of my comfort zone is how I will discover new things. And I am all about growing and moving forward in life.  What I am working on is the undergarment situation for this top. I went sans bra for this photo shoot and it was strange. Freeing yet strange. Honesty is part of my reviews on items and I am probably being a little too honest for some on here but we all have them. We all have boobs. I kinda want to purchase those sticky bra’s that are all over Instagram. You know the ones that I’m talking about, all those awkward celebrity videos of them pulling a string and having insane cleavage. I wonder how those would be for a shirt like this since wearing a bra is completely out of the question.

The other top I purchased is similar but with one bow and it is a striped all around. Can’t go wrong with a simple striped shirt either. I plan on getting a few more but vertical stripes since they are more slimming. It is also very different from what is typically sold in stores.

An alternate to these shirts if you prefer to not show off your back you can wear a tank top underneath these. This is what I plan on doing for work since I want to get as much use out of these as possible, and I was graced with a casual dress code at my new job. For the tiger top I could wear a grey, navy or even a green tank underneath. And the striped top I would only be able to wear a white or cream tank underneath since it is a white/cream colored top.

Accessorizing this would be easy, you can wear a statement necklace or keep things simple. I wanted to show off the backs of these shirts to you all, so I left the accessories out of this post. But the options are endless, you can wear whatever makes you happy. And being happy is what it is all about.

Celfish Purchase

Before you judge me, which I’m sure just by the title of this post you already have, maybe you want to continue to read about how I scored these ridiculous sunnies. I have mentioned a million times over how I am a budget shopper, the ballin on a budget lifestyle is my thing. It doesn’t mean that I don’t desire the nicer things in life either. I fully believe that if you work hard and you can spend you money however you please to. You earned it, you spend it how you’d like. Everyone has different preferences on how they spend their money. Some get the thrill by gambling their money, I get a thrill when I buy an item that was insanely marked down. Its all about happiness and damnit this purchase made me happy!

Yes it was CELFISH of me. Once … ok more than once a year I will purchase something from me and to me. I don’t have a boyfriend, nor did I ever experience what it was like to have a boyfriend buy me nice things that I didn’t pick out either. So I do it myself. I don’t like waiting around on things or people if I can do it myself. So for Valentine’s day aka singles awareness day, I like to buy myself something nice. It was between these sunglasses or another watch/sun glasses from another company. And of course the ones I wanted were sold out.. so designer sunglasses here I come! As I have previously written, I was preparing to transition into a new job. Being smart I decided to hold off on this wild purchase since I needed to save my money in case of a long period of time (possibly 3 weeks) without pay.  See, I can be sensible…. sometimes….

Once I landed the job I tried to sit tight… truly I did. Then there was a sale… and I shopped. Ok I still have enough wiggle room. Browsing through Amazon, yes you read that right.. Amazon. As I was browsing their designer sunglasses (and reviews of sellers) I stumbled upon these bad boys. They were different. Not the typical Celines that every single girl seemed to have. Or at least that I had seen. Hmm.. more than half the original selling price? ADD TO CART.

Yes, I ordered these beautiful sunnies off of AMAZON. And they are authentic thank you very much. I trust Amazon enough to know that I won’t be getting a crappy knock off either. I highly recommend looking at Amazon for any discounted designer items. You’ll never know what you may find….

Navy Knots: Shoulder detail

A trend that I have been noticing and rather intrigued with is the shoulder details and the statement sleeves. Now when you think of statement sleeves you think of these large, lavish,  ruffled sleeves. These details are rather different and much more simplified. Simple is what I like. Especially when at work, working with those large sleeves can be a difficult task at times… don’t even get me started with for meals. Its a great top for drinks but I’m going off track here…

While at my new job one of the perks of my lunch hour, besides having an entire hour to myself, is that I am near all of the amazing shopping. It is a terrible time for my wallet but I’m learning self control. My commute home is pretty much what keeps me from going a wall, and during a sale. Which is where I picked this top up from. H&M was recently having a sale and of course I can’t resist checking out a sale. This top caught my eye because of how simple it was but the detailed sleeves. It was a different take on the statement sleeve trend and simplified. Something I was totally willing to participate in. Normally when it comes to trends I am very hesitant on spending a ton of money on things, how long will it be in style.. is this something I could continuously wear or is it worth keeping around in my closet for awhile? So many questions. You wonder why I went with the name “indecisively stylish” huh? Haha!

I could pair this with a statement necklace to dress it up or keep it simple like I did today. Sometimes when I am on the go quickly I like to keep it plain because I’m anticipating constantly moving around or I just prefer to be more casual. Today was just that feeling. The weather was nice and warm and I didn’t want a lot of fuss. Just wanting to soak up every single moment in the sun, hoping it would give me some color. WOAH DREAM BIG!

Of course I own more than one pair of converse sneakers. These are my white pair, which for whatever reason I don’t wear as often. They are little different compared to my other converse since they are a different style of low tops. When I put them on I immediately remembered why, the laces are so damn long! I am the most clumsy person, walking in a straight line is a challenge for me. The irony that I am a Libra just adds to the humor. But this spring I want to continue with the many positive changes happening in my life by adding these to my every day wardrobe more. Plus it would only take me a week to break them in 😉

Springing back to life

Finally I have returned!! I know there has been a lack of me posting but I want to fill you in a bit on what has been happening. These aren’t excuses as to why I’ve lacked on posting outfits and writing posts either. For awhile now I have been searching for a new job, if you haven’t experienced this before depending on how much you search/apply/interview this can become like a second job. Juggling my blog posting, searching for a new job, preparing for interviews can be overwhelming. On top of working full time and having social events nearly every single weekend. My only time to take photos for my blog had been strictly on the weekends, when social obligations come into play its rather hard to find the time to do so. A whirl wind of events seemed to happen all at once. A blast of all positive things happened and my anxiety didn’t know what to do. Literally froze because I didn’t know where to concentrate first.

I had been applying to jobs during my lunch hour or saving them for when I got home from work to send in applications. Sometimes I would put this on hold to do things for my blog, which was something I’d much rather be doing. It was important for me to find a new job since I wanted something so much more than what I had. A funny story, my car had stalled while driving to work and as I was freaking out over the potential needs (and cost) to my car, I got a text from a friend saying she was recommending me for a position at the company she worked for. Before I knew it I was preparing for an interview and the many social events I had coming up in between. As you’ve all seen already I had baby showers back to back that I needed to prepare for. My Sundays had become an overflow of family events which I couldn’t ignore either. Within all of this time I got a new job offer. Excited wasn’t even the word. It was the news that I had needed to hear for a long time. An opportunity to change my life for the absolute better. In all aspects. I would no longer be working locally (which had its perks but was also very boring) and would be commuting to NYC. A new exciting adventure, which of course I had to shop for as well!

The weekend before my big first week I had gotten all of my orders in which I was ready to take photos and jump back into blogging again. Mother nature had other plans, and boy did it rain rain rain. I attempted to take photos of my outfits during the week of my new job but was only able to grab one. Adjusting to a new office, meeting new people, exploring my new work area on my lunch hour (finally an entire hour!), I would forget to take pictures of my outfit. And once again the rain made it difficult to wear any of my new options. With the spring weather colossally showing itself, my outfits of those in between weather days is in an experimental phase as we speak. Below 50 degrees in the morning and it feel like almost 65 by the time I leave work. Layers is an understatement, especially when its raining. If any one has been in NYC or lived in NYC you would know that the rain doesn’t always come from the sky, but at every single angle. Its not a cute look. I’d much rather stay dry and covered than attempt to look cute during those days.

My first week in general was amazing, and I am in the middle of everything that I could possibly dream of. The shopping, the parks, the great food, etc. I hope during the nicer weather I’ll be able to snap some photos of my outfits to share and my daily adventures as well. Blogging on the go may become my new hobby. It is an adjustment period for me so please bare with me! Besides the new sleep schedule I have had to rethink everything about my blog. Originally I had so much exciting things planned that I wanted to do and with a time frame. This new job somewhat threw me off as it was nearly a month in the works amongst other things. I fully plan on getting back on track and at least accomplishing the one major thing that I had planned for you all.

Sunday the weather was beautiful spring weather! I attempted to sleep in but I could not since I was so excited to jump back into blogging again. I truly missed the entire process that I go through of getting ready, putting outfits together, taking the photos and writing these long blurbs that I have no idea if any one even reads. Before I took any photos I had some family duties of babysitting my Goddaughter, my little cousins are my reason to do well and to smile every day… I can never say no to even seeing them because it is like being a kid all over again! It was only a brief time period that I got to spend with her while her Mom got some much needed Mommy work out time. Never did I think I would show up to babysitting in full glam makeup and hair but I did! Once my Godmama/cousinly duty was completed, I went home to take some photos. And boy did I forget how much I had to do. Chasing the light as always! I took quite a few looks, but I did not LOVE them all. I’ve mentioned this before and I will mention it again. I will never post anything that I am not excited or thrilled about. Call me a perfectionist, call me crazy, but I want to show happy work and not rushed work. This outfit though… it was not rushed!

Jumping into what this blog really is about, fashion, and this look I have seen all over Instagram. So much research has been happening that it was difficult for me to chose the looks that I wanted to put together. This was my absolute FAVORITE! The only thing new in this photo’s was my jeans. Everything else was things I had in my closet. This was that perfect in between for sunny warm spring days.

Over the weekend there was a sale at Gap, which wasn’t an April fools joke either. I really love their jeans for every day, the ones I used to have no longer fit me and I have been itching to get a new pair or 2. These are the girlfriend fit jeans which I LOVE LOVE LOVE. I can’t pass up a destroyed denim either 😉
