Zara Knotted Sweatshirt

Zara is a store that I am forever browsing online but I know that I need to go to the store before purchasing anything. Sometimes things look different in person rather than online, this is the case with Zara. I absolutely LOVE everything that I see online, but getting to a store is another story. It is somewhat out of the way from where I am plus I have been trying to be good when it comes to spending (as I seem to constantly have Amazon & ASOS orders). Finally I was able to check out the store in NYC. Of course it had been YEARS since I had physically been in the store, years ago I went there but I didn’t see anything that I really had liked at the time. A year post college and I was still trying to figure out what I should be spending my money on… work attire or casual attire. Ironically I haven’t worn any of the work attire I had invested in my early 20’s since then.

It was a little overwhelming when I first walked in because I simply didn’t know where to start, I was beyond excited. Filled with ruffles, statement sleeves, embroidered jeans, jackets galore. I took my time searching through the first half of the store. As I looked through the racks, I saw this top. Now this was something I had immediately fallen in love with. I know I could wear this to work (casual attire in my office) and would be a bit more dressier than a typical sweater. I do love the button down underneath sweaters look, but I hate wearing a ton of uncomfortable layers. Button downs remind me of a former up tight work atmosphere that I hated being around. Although I love the many ways you can wear it, I wanted something that was a combination of the 2. And this was it!

I paired it with a statement necklace to make it a little more dressier. Cuffing up my jeans in the “sailor style” cuff broke up my outfit a bit with my high ankle booties. I really loved the way this entire look came out. I can’t wait to find 100 more different ways to wear it. And I’m sure I’ll be sharing it soon 😉

Weekend Look 2

On the weekends I am all about comfort, ok let’s extend that to 7 days a week. On a rare occasion I am willing to dress uncomfortably for a fashionable look. I wanted to take a different spin on a look that I would normally go to. These joggers are AMAZING. I can really wear them in many different ways.. dress them down or dress them up. I love the bang for my buck that I got when I purchased them. Normally I’d like to wear them with sneakers while running around on the weekends. And by running around I mean shopping. Because well obviously I have a problem. Forever chasing the sales… and whatever I stumble upon in between.

To make this look interesting I wore my new fishnet socks that I got. These are extremely strange to wear. They look unbelievably awesome in photos and other people, but when I look at them on my own feet… I’m wondering why my big toe is sticking out of the sock…. Ok, back to the outfit!! I figured why not incorporate this new trend with an “athleisure” styled look. Keeping things basic with the head to toe black is well.. I like wearing all black, its a monochromatic look that works.

This sweater is insanely comfortable too. Each time I wear it I feel like I am wearing a giant blanket. This long sweater can be worn multiple ways too.. I’ve worn it to work on cold days and I have worn it as a more casual look too. Ideally this is perfect for fall or early spring weather to wear as a jacket. Its heavy enough to keep you warm on these “cool days” but light enough where you aren’t sweating.

Fringe Sweater

It seemed like forever ago that I discovered this website while searching for celebrity looks. Who doesn’t want to wear the same outfit or have the same sunglasses as your favorite celebrity? Sometimes it can be a difficult task to find the item, or even a dupe. What I did discover is this really awesome website called singer22. They have a list of celebrities with photos and the item that they are wearing. Some celebrities have more options than others but lets be real here. Can’t have every single designer or custom made item that they have now can we?

At the time I was looking for this sweater that I saw Kim Kardashian wear. My fellow apple bottom girl’s style was one I was trying to copy or figure out which silhouettes worked on me and which didn’t. I admired Kim then and I still do now for pushing through the fashion industry of what a “normal” body type is. Although I may be petite, I also have wider hips… so I don’t fit into the “typical/normal/standard” shape most designers are creating their looks around. We are all different shapes and sizes, so finding that one look that compliments you is always a total score. Especially when you feel insanely confident in the head to toe outfit. I am the type of person who looks at someones inner beauty before looking at their outer beauty. I try not to judge a “pretty girl” so quickly because there are things that I don’t know about her.. reasons why she dresses they way she does, style herself the way she does, the day/week/month she’s been dealing with. Any one who radiates happiness is a good person, they have a good soul in my book. Happiness is contagious and its something I prefer to surround myself by. What also makes me happy? Finding that one item that you’ve been searching for… and its rather affordable.

This fringe sweater was in my price range that I was willing to spend at the time. It was so long ago I can’t recall the exact price but lets say it was between the $50-75 range. Not terrible for a Kim Kardashian sweater right?? The brand she is wearing is called Sam and Lavi. Since this was from so long ago the sweatshirt is no where to be found.. but not to worry! I left plenty of options of similar looks and more current looks. If fringe isn’t your thing then lets bring it up to todays style… cold shoulders & distressed sweatshirts. These are a very popular trend this past fall/winter. I wouldn’t want a sweatshirt that is too distressed in the winter but again, this is totally up to you and your style.

A fun little fact about these photos.. I have a terrible habit of getting makeup on my contact lenses. No idea how it happens but it often does. I tried to push through taking these photos without looking like I was winking all the time or crying haha! Needless to say those contacts are long gone now thanks to my liner that refused to leave the lense!

Off the shoulder basic

An outfit inspiration is usually the start of my search for an outfit. I obsess over it until I can find the exact outfit or something extremely similar, never settling for less. My research skills often go deep and before I know it I’ll finally score success in finding that exact item. There are times where I see the price and say “YIKES! No thank you” so I’ll look for a cheaper option or it’s in my price range.

So here was my inspiration for this look:

Now I have previously shot this look with black jeans but I didn’t like the way it came out. The black jeans I own are high waisted, so my torso looked shorter and well my boobs looked like they hung a lot lower than they really were. I decided to reshoot this wearing boyfriend jeans instead. I was more comfortable with the look and to be honest I liked it so much better.

Off the shoulder tops have been my go to look for sometime now. Believe it or not it’s hard to find these types of tops in long sleeves or a non-body suit. For a simple top I don’t need any extra buttons. If you prefer that your top stay in place then a body suit is your go to, it keeps the shirt tucked in and prevents its from riding up. If your like me and don’t care so you’d rather be comfortable and constantly pulling down your top down then go with the regular tee. I score this top on an ASOS sale back in January. They have sooo many other options for these tops. Some even come in packs of black and white or black white and grey. Prices aren’t terrible either for such a basic tee.

70’s Inspired: Faux Fur & Bell Sleeves

Never did I think that my attire or style would ever be inspired by the 70’s but here we are. Yet another faux fur look. This vest was another item from my cousin’s closet which I am having a lot of fun wearing. I may be late on this trend but I’m having fun experimenting with this faux fur look this winter. After all, I have grown to love the look thanks to Game of Thrones.

Now I recently got this bell sleeved top and I am absolutely loving it. Finding different ways to wear this look is something I am enjoying. What girl doesn’t like playing dress up in her own closet trying to find that perfect outfit to wear…. to sit and watch Netflix haha. My weekends have been pretty much preoccupied with doing things related to my blog so by the time the evening comes I am exhausted or I am writing blog posts into the night without realizing the time. Eventually I will make it back to being social once again and I have the perfect outfit to do so. This outfit was also approved by my grandmother, recently I wore this to her birthday. Since my cousin had given me this vest I wanted to show it off and possibly take an OOTD photo. That was derailed when my little cousins wanted to play until it was time to leave. For all of my readers who are mommies, let me tell you I was very comfortable chasing around kids ages ranging from 1 to 6 years old. The only difference was I was wearing my flat OTK boots.

This outfit choice might not have been the go to look for a family party of pizza and cake but there is something that my grandmother had taught me without saying it to me. Dressing nice to feel better about yourself. She has always been well put together, her hair always done, pearl necklace always worn and matching outfits. It was something I grew up seeing and something even my Aunt’s had done too. Before I knew it I had been doing the same thing. Granted there are days where I dress exactly how I feel, a bum! No shame in having those days, but never make it an every day thing. Dressing in an outfit that makes you feel awesome will instantly lift your spirits, and you don’t have to spend a ton of money either. Take this outfit I am wearing, the only new item I am wearing is the shirt (which I had gotten on sale). The vest, a borrow from my cousin’s closet. Everything else was things I had, it was all about styling what was in my closet.

Weekend Look

The title of this post is rather self explanatory. Lately I have been having fun wearing these leather leggings, not only are they comfortable but they change the entire look compared to regular leggings. Normally I hate not wearing a regular shirt with leggings because I preferred to be covered, finding comfortable tunics that don’t look like dresses on me are pretty seldom finds. For a happy medium I’ve settled on wearing this waterfall sweater which I have had for ages. Not only am I completely comfortable with how I look but I also don’t feel like a complete bum when I leave the house in this. Throwing on my OTK boots dresses this look up a lot more. What your not seeing is the fuzzy socks that I am wearing on the inside of these boots to keep my feet nice and toasty during the freezing cold. I threw my jacket over my shoulders since it was FREEZING outside when I took these, normally I just wear this outfit around the house.. well minus the OTK boots.

Something Pink: Faux Fur, leather & suede

Before I even begin writing about this outfit, I have to thank my really amazing cousin Erika for lending me this jacket. She is one of my go to girls when it comes to fashion, we have somewhat similar styles in that we like to dress sporty but we love to dress girly and fashionable too. I had told her about my quest to find a faux fur jacket & how Forever 21 seemed to be completely out of stock. She quickly pulled this from her closet and said “have fun! and put it on your blog!” I was SO EXCITED! Not only was this different from the faux furs I had been seeing all over instagram but I thought of a million ways to style this. Stay tuned as I’m sure this will be a repeat offender this month.

Mixing different textures with this look was something I thought was rather different other than the typical jeans and booties look that everyone was doing. Yes it is simple and all but this was such a fun color so I wanted to go all out with it. Bringing back my awesome steal for the Free People Tunic, I paired it with my new leather leggings and my knee high suede boots. The look didn’t feel complete without this hat which gave this a little bit of the 70’s disco vibe to it. I really had so much fun styling this look if you couldn’t tell!
