Black is my favorite color. That shouldn’t surprise you. But what I love more than wearing black is being casual in all black. My underlying style has remained the same since I was a teenager – graphic tee, jeans, and converse sneakers. Even at 30 I am still dressing relatively the same. Read More
It is hard to find a travel line that actually has products that are useful and not just pretty. I am very much for quality over quantity, and unfortunately, I have hit a wall when it comes to travel necessities. Spending too much time on what I was wear rather than what I was packing it in. Shay Mitchell has always been an inspiration to me when it comes to fashion, life, and travel – often I’ve attempted to recreate her looks. But when she released this travel line, I knew that she wasn’t messing around…
Workout gear, gym gear, yoga outfit, workout leggings, it’s just a bunch of clothes that you get extremely sweaty in. Over the years I have fluctuated with wearing the same old ratty gym outfits all the time to wearing the cutest outfits as if I had someone to impress. What I had learned is that I tend to gravitate towards the same shirts, pants/leggings, shoes and yes even socks. Over time I had built up my workout gear to full an entire week worth of activity… Do I always work out 7 days a week? No. I’ll wear my workout pants to errands in hopes that I will actually do a workout when I get home.
Lately, I’ve noticed that I tend to rotate the same items and mix and match them in a variety of ways. And these are mostly affordable items too!
I love shopping, I know you do too. It’s a rush. It’s my cardio. But this isn’t the best habit to have… yes I shop smart and use every single shopping ninja secret known in the Milky-way Galaxy. Sometimes you just have to get creative. And that is exactly what I did here.
Often I find myself lusting after an outfit I see on Instagram or in a storefront on a manikin. We all get that FOMO feeling when we realize that we don’t have that exact outfit in our possession – or do we? Our minds are quickly overtaken with the idea that we need to have that outfit, or those shoes or that bag or that jacket… and we are dragged back down to reality when we look at the price tag. Accepting defeat is not part of my personality – I may lay low for a minute, but when I do come back it is always with a plan.
So ask yourself the following questions:
- Do I have something similar?
- Do I know someone who has something similar?
- Is this item an investment piece? (SERIOUSLY!)
It all started with an inspiration from Pinterest and my indecision to decide which look I wanted to recreate. I never thought that my indecision would create such a fun look, and something I never considered doing: layering coats. We all have those fun fashion coats which are realistically not warm enough to wear during a frigid day, especially here in New York. So why not layer your favorite coats for a fun (and interesting) look.
Looking chic or stylish in New York City during the winter is often a hell of a task. Do you risk catching a cold to leave your coat open so the world can see your outfit? YES…. depending on the temperature and length of the walk. What I have learned is that you have days where you want to stay warm and other days where you want to look fabulous head to toe. To be quite honest, it is insanely simple to achieve.
